Star players set to return to West Indies team
The main stars of the West Indies team are set to return after significant progress was made in negotiations between players and the board.
There has been a resolution to the Darren Bravo / Dave Cameron saga. In addition, fans will soon see the likes of Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, Andre Russell (after serving ban) and Chris Gayle as they are also available for selection in ODI cricket following an amnesty that was proposed by WIPA, the players’ union.
The players could be selected as early as the upcoming ODI leg of the England Tour in August/ September.
The key to the resolution has been Cricket West Indies dissolving its controversial policy regarding player availability for regional cricket, that is that they should play the ODI tournament at home to be eligible for selection to the West Indies Team. It is anticipated however, that the policy will be formally abandoned when the new round of central contracts are introduced in October.
This is good news for long suffering fans who have had to endure embarrassing losses to Afghanistan among other poor performances despite unearthing encouraging new talents.
More developments as they become available.
